Yay for fun friends!!!!

For those (two) of you who follow my journal in rapt interest, you may recall a long-ago post about my friend Jeff, who e-mailed me after attending a Sheryl Crow concert and said I could be living her life if I’d made just a few different minor choices along the way. I commented at the time that everyone needs friends like Jeff. Well, today I repeat that assertion with exclamation points.

The Fed Ex man just pulled away from my house after leaving a package. It’s from Jeff. You see, Jeff feels he owes me a debt of appreciation because I introduced him to Strong Bad and the rest of the Homestarrunner family. To show his gratitude, he sent me the following:

* One Strong Bad Mask t-shirt

* One Strong Bad baseball cap

* A floatie pen that has “Greetings from Strongbadia” written on it

* All of the Homestarrunner figurines

* A variety pack of stickers

I immediately e-mailed Jeff my ecstatic thanks, including the observation that Luke will be insanely jealous. (It’s all mine, Luke! Find your own cool friends.)

When I think about how happy this simple, goofy gesture made me, I once again promise myself to do nice things for people I care about. I want to make other people smile as much as I am right now.

P.S. But I’m not giving you my Strong Bad goodies!

  1. I need a Jeff! I want the Strongbad goodies!

I’m so happy that you have a good, no great friend who would do something so sweet for you. It’s funny how small gestures and tokens can mean so much, but I know they truly do.

    xoxo

  2. Jeff is a jewel of a friend. In addition to regular make-your-day e-mails, I’ve gotten CD mixes in the mail, and earlier this week an article on publishing. Jeff is reading my book chapters as I get them written, and he’s become one of my biggest cheerleaders. The coolest thing about that is, Jeff and I are worlds apart as far as faith matters go. He calls me his East Texas snake handler friend. ;o) (Don’t you love it?) And yet, he tells me the book makes him cry and he knows it will be successful. He even offered to self-publish it for me. I learn a lot about acceptance and friendship from Jeff.

Thanks for admiring him. You bear the marks of friendship, too, you know.

    lol.

BTW, thanks for your card! Yo’re Purty!!! George is a handsome feller too! I’ve always admired a man with a beard, ahem. Luke Grace and Jacob are good lookin’ Kids too! Luke, don’t let this go to your head.

Hope you have a wonderful, happy holiday!

I’m glad you liked the card. I thought it was about time I introduced the family to you. :o) George doesn’t always have a beard. It’s sort of seasonal with him. He’s an outdoorsy type, so winter puts him in a mountain-man-beard-growing mood. I’m guessing you must have one, too.

Happy Ho Ho Ho to you, Allen B. And blessings in the N.Y.

What is it about the winter equinox and hairy men? Wordgeek, my brother-in-law, and my sister’s boyfriend are all sporting goatee/beards. I am sure Georgie Porgie would have something to say about evolution here. BTW, we really enjoyed your yearly letter too.
