Information you may want to know. Or not.

Tomorrow morning we leave for family reunion in Virginia. On Monday, we’ll drive to Wheaton and deposit Luke along with his suitcases, boxes, computer, guitar, and miscellaneous stuff we’ve been packing the last few days. Then George, Jacob, and I will come home. But Luke will board a bus and depart with a group of 150 students for a three-week wilderness camp on the border of Wisconsin and Michigan, not far from Canada. This will be only the first adventure of many ahead during the wonderful years between high school and real life: College.

He found out yesterday that his roommate, Joshua, is also going on the wilderness trip. They talked on the phone last night for the first time. Joshua seems like a nice guy–easy to talk to. He and Luke have some things in common: Tolkien and an interest in philosophy and writing. Maybe they’ll have the chance to get to know each other a little before they actually have to live together in one small room.

I’m very excited for Luke. He seemed a little disappointed today that I wasn’t acting more sad about his leaving. But I can’t be sad. I know Luke and I will always be close. There’s no doubt in my mind about that. And I’d be sick if he gave up these amazing opportunities just to stay around all that’s familiar. What a tragedy that would be! Will I miss Luke? Yes. Very much. Am I glad he’s going? Yes. Very.

For those of you who are reading the Jacob story, I will continue it when we get back in town next week. I’m not sure when we’ll get home, because George is sometimes one to dart off on little side adventures. But we’ll probably return by Wednesday. I appreciate the kind comments I’ve received. You are all awesome!

Have a stupendous week! I look forward to reading all your fascinating journal entries when I return.

Until then . . . ♥ EZ

  1. I am surely going to miss you…both.

Hopefully I will be away some of the time, too. That might make it seems like a short period. Let’s hope.

    be safe, and have fun.
    xoxo

  2. Have fun! And be careful! (It’s possible to do both!)

I’ll miss your journal entries very much, but you’ll come back with even more to write about.

    Smooches!
