“I’ve got a girl that makes me feel like giving flowers to everyone I meet.”
That’s the first line of a song called She’s So Nice, which we had the delightful privilege of hearing Curtis perform two nights ago at the O Lounge on Queen Anne in Seattle. I’m not sure what made me smile more–the way he looked as he sang it or the way Grace looked watching him sing it. After all, he wrote it about her.
In-loveness is almost as much fun to observe as it is to experience. Especially when you love the persons who are in love. Wowees. They’re cute.
More about our travels later. Right now I need to fold laundry, do the dishes, and pay some bills. We may have gone on vacation, but silly silly life kept right on happening in our absence. Maybe I’ll work off the effects of all that good Seattle food as I try to catch up with myself. (I’ll just have to avoid catching up with myself near the pantry where I stashed the dark-chocolate-covered roasted walnuts from Whole Foods. Mmmm. I think they’re calling to me even now . . .)
“We look ahead, and we look behind, but mostly we smile, looking to the side.” That’s just adorable. And so, so nice.
Family is priceless
Spoken like a mommy who loves her beautiful girl….I am so glad that you got to share in Grace’s joys up close. She is really special. May her dreams come true and her life continue to be blessed.
Warm regards,
Michal Fleury
hey! i don’t suppose you ever met up with the droullards did you? you don’t happen to have a copy of that song do you? you don’t happen to think that i am cute do you?
love,
luke
50 points for making me laugh out loud, Sparky.
No, sadly, we never met up with the Droullards. By Sunday all our evenings were scheduled as well as most of the mornings. I didn’t want to ask them to travel south, and I didn’t see how we could make it up to their territory. I sent Mrs. D. an e-mail yesterday expressing our regrets.
Yes, I have a copy of that song. An autographed CD, no less, with She’s So Nice and two other “sneak previews” of songs currently in production.
Yes, I happen to think you are extremely cute. Like Anna’s beauty, your cuteness flows out in all directions. And I wish it would flow in my direction more often.
I love and miss you madly. xo Mz
Re: Family is priceless
Thanks, Michal. We had a wonderful time with Grace. I treasured every moment.
We saw Zach for just a few minutes. I wish it could have been longer. There are too many amazing people to know and not enough time to know them all well. I suppose this is a good sort of frustration, but it’s frustrating nonetheless.
Hope all is well with you and yours.
J.
Re: Family is priceless
We are well. I just got set up on LJ. And I have my first post. I loved your eye pic…and took a picture of my horses eye and ear for my LJ logo. I think I am enjoying writing. It is such a release for me. Feel free to visit my first entry. I enjoyed writing it.
Warm regards,
Michal
Ah, yes…”In-loveness.” You know it when you feel it, and you know it when you see it, too. There’s NOTHING better, in my opinion, that to see one of your beloved children fall into true love. I am happy for Curtis and that nice, nice girl! 🙂
Katy Raymond, the “doh” girl, posted the above….
Would that be the Pillsbury “Doh” Girl?
Only if she is the Low-Carb Pillsbury Doh Girl!
Katy
Cuteness
You are a family of cuties. Luke is cute in a ripped sort of way. (James is in awe of Luke’s physique.) I like to tell people that I majored in “cute” and that I got all “A’s”. It’s true, you know. Love, Lois

Re: Cuteness
Indeed it’s true. You were the star pupil. Lots of people studied their hardest, but you always had the highest marks on your cuteness card.
Luke is a man. He turns 21 in two weeks. He’s buff and hairy and it’s all so odd. But yes, he’s still cute, and always will be. Lukie poo, the big buff cutsie buttons.
