Today I got to play secret-agent fairy. A friend who lives in another town called this morning. Her son attends college here. She told me about something that had happened which left said son feeling sad and depressed, and she asked if I might have time to go by and cheer him with balloons or whatnot. If I didn’t have time, she wondered, could I recommend a business that would deliver a pick-me-up?
Well, now. I’m a mommy, too. I don’t care what I had on my agenda for the day, this boy needed something tangible to represent the hug his mom couldn’t give him. “Of course I’ll do it! Does it have to be balloons?”
“No. I just want him to know he is loved.”
“Okay. I’ll include a note and sign it from you.”
“That would be wonderful!”
“I don’t know what you’re going to say yet, but it will be nice.”
She chuckled. “Thanks. I appreciate this so much.”
So. I drove downtown to the R&R Bakery on the square. I ordered an iced latte and explained my mission. The girl behind the counter and I then filled a box with delectable treats from the bakery case.
I returned home, added some microwave kettle corn, tied the box with miles of green, blue, and lavender curly ribbon, and wrote the note. Then I hopped back into my stealth super mini (we’ll call her the Silver Bullet for this episode), and smiled all the way to the college.
I’d hoped to leave the box with someone on duty in the dorm lobby, but the lobby was deserted. Not sure what to do, I headed for one of several courtyards in the complex. I had no idea where his room was, but my highly sensitive agent-fairy antennae detected a friendly college boy nearby. I approached him.
He not only knew my friend’s son, he knew which room was his and pointed it out. He watched me climb the stairs and try the door to that hall. Locked. Friendly college boy then introduced himself and offered to deliver the package.
Mission accomplished!
It makes me happy to think that, if God provided a secret-agent fairy for him, He’ll do the same for my children who attend college far away from home.
Maybe it will be you. ♥
Are you just the sweetest or what???? What a fortunate guy! What a wonderful Agent-Fairy! WOW!

That was very kind of you. I’m still smiling about the stealth super mini.
