Lady Jane Grey

My birthday is next week. Today George, Jacob, and I went to Dallas. We had lunch with my parents, and then George bought me a birthday present. A nice birthday present. I’ll give you one hint: I’m thinking of naming her Lady Jane Grey.

Any guesses?

  1. Hmmm. Not a bad idea, but among the X men I would choose Wolverine, and I don’t think he would want to be called Lady Jane. (Nor do I think my husband would give me Hugh Jackman as a birthday present. As much as he spoils me, he does understandably have his limits.)

  3. Wheeeeeeeeeeee! It was the most wonderful thing… It complements you so! It completes a whole new part of you… It is beautiful. It is nice. It is magnificent and spice. I am glad you let me experience it… I want one so very badly. I will come over to your house every Thursday to see it, I will. You just wait! I will wash it for you for free!

  5. Jessed, you must learn to quit suppressing your emotions. ;o)

You’ll wash it every Thursday for free? Wow. I may have to take you up on that.

Glad you enjoyed the ride. Your enthusiasm is fun.

  7. Yes, but if I did wash it for you all the time, you would eventually have to break down and let me take it for a ride so I can see what it feels like to have everyone think I am cool and wish they could be like me. That must be neato. Yes.

  9. Possibly so… Crikey, I did it again.

I was considering commenting on your journal about the whole poetry bit, but the more I think about it, the more I don’t want to get involved.

Three cheers for “Ellezymnd!!!” Gotta love that rear seat sunroof.

  11. EBUD=I=C = Duke Nukem

Is the “o” in your “;o)” a nose, or is it like a water chestnut eating zombie-parasite from Jupiter? I’ve seen both and sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference. Please clarify!!!

  13. (hangs head) Um … yeah. Sorry about that. I’m not totally evil, honest. Just passionate. But there is a fair argument to be made I shouldn’t be allowed to join/start discussions. 🙁

  15. No no, it wasn’t that… I actually tend to cling to the more modern “unnatural” poetry… but I won’t allow my personal prejudices and opinions to tell other people that my view of art is the only way that’s right. Ennywho, that’s about all I’m going to say on the subject…

  17. Oh! Ok… whew. I gotcha. After what I’ve learned of, and am still learning of poetry, I think that the term “poem” is as broad a nomenclature as say … ‘bird.’ Many different things can be birds, but not all are rapters, etc.

For example, Japanese Death Poems. Written by monks at the moment of their death … one monk simply drew “O,” symbolizing the circle of life. Many would not call that a poem, and yet it still falls into the realm. Um … OK, I better stop now. It’s just that so much is and can be. Deciding what is and isn’t is less important than simply doing.

    somebody stop me!!!

In the land of the Jupiter-dwelling water chestnut eating zombie-parasite,
    Two doves flew,
    And I saw
    A gun.
    And a man,
    Standing.
    Waiting.
For the Moon to reflect the sun’s light.
    I am light.

  21. Stop!!!!

Heh… I won’t go so far as to say that this is an invalid subject on which to dwell for conversation and acknowledgement, because it is important to recognize where our society is headed and what’s changing. However, I will allow myself to be over-opinionated on the subject. “Can’t we all just get along?!”

  23. Lucas James, watch your mouth! (er, . . . typing?)

WAY! 2003 Metallic silver with black top and black leather seats, 5-speed manual transmission, Premium sound system, front and back sun roofs, CD player, and all kinds of onboard computer functions I haven’t figured out yet. Very sweet and spunky. (Like you.)

Did you get my e-mail about the singing trees? :o) Also, we heard Sullivan play last night at a party in Nacogdoches. They rocked. And we talked to Andy and Linda Parr for a long time. Maybe I will tell you what they said about you. Or maybe I won’t. Heh heh. But it was really nice.

Love you. (Watch your mouth.) Momzy

  25. I just meandered around your journal a bit and then added you to my list.

I also sing and play piano, but probably not on your level. My brother is a fantastic jazz pianist and saxophone player, and I’d love to find someone to teach me all the ins and outs of jazz piano. (Unfortunately he doesn’t live close.) That’s so cool that you are studying it. Do you have any recordings?

Sorry about your friend being so far away. He looks really nice in his picture.

I look forward to reading more. Oh, and I love all your user pictures! Too cute.

    Take care. ♥ EZ

  27. Thanks! And don’t worry . . . I’m being very careful with my new toy, and (so far) I’m sticking to the speed limit so meticulously my husband teased me about it.

I don’t think our small east Texas town is in any way comparable to Boston. Around here, if there are three cars in front of you at a light, it must be rush hour. :o)

  29. I’d be happy to teach you what I know about jazz piano – as long as you don’t mind commuting! Alternatively, I’m sure we could come to some arrangement where you bought me my own private jet so that I could come to you on a weekly basis.

Don’t say yes or no yet – give it some thought 😉

I don’t have any decent recordings at the moment, only dodgy home-recordings that I made long before I’d properly sunk my teeth into jazz. There are plans to record an EP in a few months time, so keep an eye on my journal around December.

    Thanks for adding me 🙂

  31. Actually, from what I’ve read, there wasn’t much “chicken” about her. I’ll not bore you by rehashing our conversation from Sunday, but I will repeat that it’s a fine name, after a fine lady.

  33. gotta love those rocket mods. I also built a new flux capacitor for it, so I’m gonna take it up to 88 miles an hour and see what happens. I might stop by yesterday and say hi.
