A few things I love

Luke is upstairs jamming with John Slaten. Sunday he jammed all afternoon and evening with Ryan Bowles and (for a little while) David. I realize how much I’ve missed hearing Luke play drums. I love the way he plays drums. And guitar. And piano. I’ve missed his music.

Joe Bucks is a new coffee shop in town. I love it. For one thing, it’s a one-minute walk from my house. Or a fifteen-second drive. It’s a block away. They have hot or frozen coffee and chai, fruit tea blasts (smoothies), and all the trimmings we’ve come to expect from purveyors of designer coffee. The coffee is good; the atmosphere is delightful; they offer a limited, but wonderful food menu: three different kinds of chicken salad (I like the cranberry almond best), a few specialty sandwiches, a different soup every day, and freshly baked cookies, muffins, and brownies. A lady bakes them every morning. Joe Buck is so friendly. There’s nothing not to love about Joe Bucks. It makes me happy.

And, of course, I love you. Whoever you are reading this. Heh. I sound like Mr. Rogers or something. “It’s a lovely day for a neighbor, would you be mine?” Sure you will. Just like Joe Buck.

  1. Mr. Rogers wore nice sweaters.

I kinda wish we were neighbors… Ragamuffen, myself and you. We would have evening strolls and chat into the night. lovely

I love Joe Bucks too! I wanna be there. It reminds me of this new coffee shop my friend Traci showed me yesterday called Joe Bar Cafe and Crepery (which I spoke about in my journal). Not only was it a very inviting atmosphere, but the food was good and the art was amazing. Maybe it’s something in the name, Joe? I also love the fact that you refered to the chai as “hot or frozen” as opposed to “hot or cold”, or “hot or blended/iced”. Is it enough to label as a language barrier, or just a great choice of word? You tell me… 🙂

Joe Buck has great taste in art and furniture and decor. I love to soak up the details. The color of paint on the walls (textured mustardy gold) and ceiling (red!). The black, wide-planked wood floor. the beaded lamp shades. Two old screen doors hanging on the walls simply for effect. Mismatched chairs. Real cloth napkins in a bright floral print. Books arranged on desks and shelves. A checker set on a low table with a bright green wicker bench on one side and a yellow one on the other. When I go in there, there’s almost always someone I know. Someone who already loves me and wants to talk. And of course Joe Buck loves me, because I’m his neighbor. ;o) You really must come, and we will have a frozen chai.
