One needle in the great big cyber-haystack

She crept along the damp alley wall until she reached the battered metal door. Trying to be as quiet as possible, she turned the knob and eased it open. The hinges creaked. She winced at the sound, but gently pried until she’d created a wide enough space to slip through. Once inside, she left the door ajar and tiptoed into the large warehouse. Strange, indistinct shadows stalked each other on the walls. The moon provided the only light, a sickly greenish glow that forced its way through oily windows.

He had to be here somewhere.

A clatter to her left startled her, and she swung around just in time to see a rat scurry off and disappear behind some old boxes. She stood motionless, waiting for her heart to stop pounding. Then she took a deep breath and slowly ventured deeper into the dank, musty recesses of the abandoned behemoth of a building.

He could be anywhere! she thought. Where do I even begin?

Frustration rose. I mean, really. She didn’t have the time or patience for this. As she stood alone in the middle of the cavernous room, she suddenly realized what she would have to do.

“L-U-U-U-U-U-K-E!” she yelled at the top of her lungs, “WHERE ARE YOU???????”
