Take a Snow Day. Or ten.

I first encountered Billy Coffey in January, 2009, during a blog tour for Parting the Waters. Tina Howard of The Blog Tour Spot emailed me to let me know how the tour was shaping up and included a link to one early review she was sure I wouldn’t want to miss. It was Billy’s.

I read Billy’s review, wiped the tears from my cheeks, thanked God again for graciously allowing our pain to bring hope and encouragement to someone else, and then added Billy’s blog to my reader. I’ve been a fan ever since, and not just because his review blessed me. I quickly realized what all of Billy’s readers will tell you. The man has a rare combination of gifts. He’s an avid observer, an eager listener, and a voracious learner with the ability to take what he sees, hears, and learns, look beneath the surface, and then weave it into good, old-fashioned story. The kind of story that dances off the tongue and into the heart. The kind of story people eagerly gather ’round to hear.

Since January of 2009, I’ve had the joy of getting to know Billy and  watching his writing career explode. He signed with Rachelle Gardner of WordServe Literary, and she sold his debut novel, Snow Day, to FaithWords. Not too long after the manuscript sold, I was honored and delighted to receive an email from Billy asking me if I’d consider endorsing the book. I didn’t even have to think about it. Here’s what I wrote:

It’s probably the easiest endorsement I’ve ever written for anything, because I believe in Billy and his book 100%. No one deserves the success more, and I feel certain no one will wear it more gracefully. I wish him all the very, very best.
