In early 2009 I agreed to speak at a women’s conference in Seattle on April 23-24, 2010. In late August of ’09 our daughter called to share the exciting news that she was pregnant. Her due date? April 21. How convenient! The only major thing on my calendar around that time happened to be in her neighborhood. I said, “This is great! I can come spend extended time with you and still speak at the conference. I’ll keep the rest of my calendar open. Just try not to have the baby on the 23rd or 24th, okay?” She laughed and said, “I’ll try, but you know I don’t have any control over that.”
Yes, I knew. But the conference started Friday evening and ended Saturday afternoon. What were the odds of her baby being born during the 24 hour window I’d have to be away?
That’s a good question with an interesting answer. God seldom works in the ways we expect, but He always does what’s best. For the rest of this story, click over to today’s post on The Master’s Artist. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
