So much more than a moment to me

Please note the time of this post. It bears great significance. For, you see, exactly twenty years ago, on April 18, 1985, at 1:21 PM, the shape of eternity was forever altered when one seven-pound, eight-ounce immortal soul made his entrance into the world. He came as babies do, bringing a breath of heaven and a sense of the unseen — a mystery played out so many times so many places every day that we’ve come to mistake the miraculous for the mundane.

His mother gazed into innocent blue eyes and felt more than heard whispered promises. Sweet, astounding promises she treasured in her heart. It was a long time ago, but the promises shine more brightly than ever.

Today he fears he must mourn a childhood lost. What silliness! Childhood is a door that never closes for the poet, because make-believe is the key. Neverland will accompany him into the greater adventures ahead.

Happy Birthday, Luke, my adorable man-child. I’m so thankful for you. May the light of every promise-to-come sparkle in your eyes today, and may all who see it be touched by joy.
