When I hear someone say, “forever and ever”, I automatically place the phrase in a romantic context (just as Luke did). With a romantic origin as a precursor, I think that phrases like this one are generally used when the more simplistic version (e.g. forever) has been used to the point of desensitization.
Once, it was enough to say, “I love you.” What must we say now to express our feelings?

Yeah, but anything that winds down with a double forte Hallelujah can’t be bad.
Hows come yous guys is doing Messiah post yuletide, don’tcha know? Oh, and hey, by the way, will you be coming to Texas with the Wheaton choir in March?

Well, there are 3 parts to the Messiah,
His Birth
His Death and Resurrection
and
His Divinity
It’s usually split in half and performed at C&E. We’re doing the entire thing at the same time that it would have originally been performed with somewhat authentic performance practice…etc. Oh yeah, and it doesn’t quite end on that song (hehe, got it wrong), it ends on an AMEN that’s about 10 minutes long!
I won’t be in Texas any time soon, 🙁 I’m in Men’s Glee Club.

Maybe forever needed more storage space… maybe ‘ever’ is the sub=basement of ‘forever.’

I like that, Luke. You should make it into a song.

Maybe. :o)
It’s like Buzz Lightyear’s, “To infinity and beyond!” What’s beyond infinity?

All I have running through my head is “Forever and Ever Hallelujah Hallelujah…..” and then a HUGE V-I Cadence as Handel’s Messiah is finally over!
*shakes head*
Too much rehearsal this week.

What must we say now to express our feelings?
How about, “I’ll take another slice of that chocolate cake.”
Mmmm. Chocolate. Forever and ever.

Sometimes I think forever isn’t long enough, other times its too long!

Ah, yes. Very true. Christmas concerts end it with Hallelujah. I love the Amen section, though. Twuly.
Having reviewed the brochure, I think only the orchestra is coming to Texas anyway. Chin up. You musn’t juxtapose a frown with Glee Club. ;o)

The ever at the end is an emotional attempt to prove that you mean the forever, not neccessarily romantic, but usually,
