Advice for the day.

If you don’t want to understand love . . . If you don’t want to learn how to pray . . . If you don’t want to carry an exquisite ache like a chunk of molten gold — never cooling, but weighing with a constant pressure on your heart — don’t become a mother.

  1. Truer words, never spoken. Potent advice even if I have already thrown that caution to the wind. I think that I, like you, love that little chunk of molten gold.

  3. Fathers aren’t exempt, my love. Especially poets.

Everything is more than okay, because I do want to understand love and to learn how to pray. And the burning pressure in my heart lets me know every moment I’m alive.

I love you, too. More than I can express.

  5. Good Hurt

Hope things are going o.k. It is good to express those moments when we think we might explode, otherwise we might be consumed by its power. I will be praying that your “exquisite ache” is soothed in the arms of the very One who has taught you to love and to pray and blessed you with such a beautiful burdens.

Thanks, Megan. I know you understand the tension — wanting to carry their burdens, wanting to solve their problems, wanting to find easy answers to life’s challenges, when you know all along they must be lived through and overcome.

It is a good hurt. And I value your prayers very much.
