Birth Announcement

No, I haven’t been keeping secrets. My “baby” is nineteen now.

However, I just chatted on IM with Jennifer, and she gave me permission to make this announcement. She hopes to write something in her LJ “soon,” but with two young boys and a newborn, well . . .

On November 7, she and Chris became the delighted parents of Elena Jewel, 7 lbs., 15 oz., 19 inches long. Elena was born at a birthing center in a water tub, without the use of any drugs. Jennifer even caught her when she came out. Talk about a pioneer woman!

She sent me a couple of pictures. Elena is beautiful! They have so much to be thankful for: two precious sons and now a healthy, perfect baby daughter.

Whatever your Monday is shaping up to be, I hope the thought of this fragile, exquisite new life brings you a moment of joy and awe. The world just got almost eight pounds more wonderful.

    Alas, since the Geek family moved away, I will not have much opportunity to indoctrin– er, “introduce myself” to Elena. It’s a sad, sad state of affairs. Perhaps her parents will recognize the need to place an autographed, poster-sized photo of me in my tiara above her crib. They’re wise parents. I’m sure they’ll come around.
